The Soldier Streets group has submitted the following statement to Council on the 9th June 2010. The basis of the objections to the Willoughby Draft LEP to rezone this area to R3 Medium Residential are as follows:

1. Trust - a similar rezoning was proposed and rejected in 1999; the factors that led to its rejection have not changed in the intervening period
2. Heritage and Aesthetic Value of the neighbourhood, described by Willoughby Council Environmental Services Director Greg Woodhams as "an oasis"
3. Conservation of the existing community fabric and of the ecological environment
4. Transportation - the proposal does nothing to alleviate satisfactorily the traffic and transport issues that the rezoning will create
5. Close proximity of areas which would be much more suitable to R3 rezoning
